Seven years and still no justice for Marikana families Aug 16th, 2019 Sandisiwe Ntlemeza 1264 Views JOHANNESBURG: The families of the 34 mineworkers killed by police in Marikana are still looking to obtain justice and to be compensated by the government. This comes as the country on Friday marks seven years since the massacre that occurred in the North West mining area. On Thursday, the Socio-Economic Rights Institute of SA (Seri), representing the families of the dead mineworkers, said that the case around the compensation of the miners was far from being settled. According to Nomzamo Zondo, its director of litigation, two disputes were delaying the finalisation of the families’ claim from the state. Featured, Home, Today, Trending
