Anti Gang Unit arrived in Hanover Park

CAPE TOWN: The new South African Police Anti Gang Unit walking the streets of Hanover Park ahead of the official launch by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Ramaphosa on Friday formally launched the Anti-Gang Unit in Hanover Park, Cape Town. The Anti-Gang Unit is made up of members from specialised units with an objective to dislodge and terminally weaken the capacity of the gangs, and to disorganize and fundamentally disable the criminal economy linked to gangsterism, including drug and firearm supply lines or other identified commodities. The Anti-Gang Unit has been in operation as from the 08th of October 2018, deployed in Nyanga cluster, Bonteheuwel and Bishop Lavis. Video: Henk Kruger/African News Agency/ANA.
