CAPE TOWN: Parents of Uitzing High School pupils and Governing Body in Elsies River protested outside the locked gates at the Metro North Education District (Parow), demanding to see an official, after the Western Cape Education Department said the school will be closed at the end of 2017.  

The parents are unhappy because the provincial department has judged the building structurally unsafe. Earlier in April, the school’s Governing Body came to an agreement with the provincial department that the school would not be closed. Video by: Lubabalo Poswa/ ANA Pictures
