CAPE TOWN:  One person is believed to have died after a helicopter crash-landed near Strand, just outside Cape Town. The aircraft came down on the school grounds of Nomzamo High School. The pilot is believed to have died.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring confirmed that a man was killed when a helicopter crashed into a field of a school in Lwandle near Strand in the Western Cape.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 12h00, finding Metro services already in attendance. Paramedics assessed the lone occupant and found that one man had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.

“Unfortunately, nothing more could be done and the man was declared dead by Metro Services. It is alleged that the helicopter had apparently crashed into the nearby power lines”, said Meiring.
