Singer Tye Platinum says his heritage is deeply rooted in the church, music and braai.
The solo artist, who was born in Ravensmead but grew up in Belhar, started out as the lead singer in the local band Blackcurrant.

But the 33-year-old says his love affair with music and food started when he was a child. He was six when he first went to Sunday school, and joined the choir of the Old Apostolic Church in Belhar where he says his singing talent was honed.
