CAPE TOWN: About 300 Marikana informal settlements residents marched to the Mayor’s office on Thursday, with support of Social Justice Coalition organisation to hand in a memorandum with their grievances. This follows the death of 11 people who were shot and killed in Marikana last week. The angry residents said South Africa’s Minister of police Fikile Mbalula had promised them to deploy about 80 police officers to patrol in the community but none of them were seen until today.
