CAPE TOWN: MORE than 80 residents, young and old, from various communities picketed outside the Parliament on Wednesday to hand over 9 portfolios that had open letters and court papers to the Portfolio Committee of Police.

The memorandum follows the Khayelitsha Commission of Inquiry about policing in local communities, which found that fewer police resources were assigned to previously disadvantaged areas where crime levels are higher, as compared to well-off areas. Video by: Lonwabo Marele/ Cape Times
