Manchester United took a 1-0 lead into half time after an acrobatic effort saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic score in the 42nd minute.
A fast paced game, with many brutal tackles is usually what takes place when the Toffees meet the Red Devil’s, and this time was no different.
Serious challenges from Gareth Barry and Marcos Rojo resulted in the pair being booked. The latter could have been sent off as replays showed that he went into the tackle two footed and dangerously.
Cue the 85th minute and the substitute appearance of one Marouane Fellaini. Making his 100th appearance for Manchester United.
No more than a minute and forty-seven seconds later. Fellaini found himself lunging at Everton’s defensive midfielder Gueye in the Manchester United box. The mistimed challenged resulted in a penalty for the Merseyside team.
Leighton Baines stepped up and scored.
A total blunder by Fellaini resulted in his team dropping two crucial points.
