Did you know that you could go to jail for claiming qualifications that you don’t have?
Even if it’s in your Twitter Bio!
It is now considered a criminal act if you claim to hold a tertiary qualification you don’t that you don’t have.
The legislation regarding South Africa’s National Qualifications Framework has been recently amended by Parliament and the amendment Act came into force this week.
And you could face five years in jail or a hefty fine for making false tertiary qualification claims.
Any person can report you to the authorities if they see you have lied about or even bragged about your qualifications social media such as LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook.
If reported, the South African Qualifications Authority would be obliged to investigate the false claim.
