#CabinetReshuffle: Ramaphosa announces new ministers and a merge

CAPE TOWN: President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a number of changes to Cabinet on Thursday at the Union Buildings.

Nomvula Mokonyane has been shifted from the Communications portfolio and appointed the Minister of Environmental Affairs – replacing Edna Molewa who died in September.

Siyabonga Cwele is the n ew Minister of Home Affairs, taking over the post recently vacated by Malusi Gigaba.

Ramaphosa also announced that the Department of Communications and the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services will be merged.

Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will head up the newly merged Communications ministry. She was previously the Deputy Minister of Communications.

This is Ramaphosa’s first reshuffle since he announced his Cabinet in February. The only change he has previously made was the appointment of Tito Mboweni as finance minister after the resignation of Nhlanhla Nene.
