89 prisoners gear up for matric exams

DURBAN: A total of 89 inmates will sit for the National Senior Certificate, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) said, with the oldest being 52 years old.

The department said that it was more than satisfied with the level of preparations and confident that they have given necessary support to thirteen schools that it runs across the country. Kutama Sinthumule Correctional School’s 30 learners have the highest number of matriculants registered followed by Durban Westville which has 23.
